A Qualitative Investigation on Intrafamily Succession and Transgenerational Growth in Family Firms: Analysis and Findings
摘要
This chapter explores the key drivers of transgenerational growth in family businesses, highlighting the interplay between the old and new generations during succession. Based on nine case studies, our qualitative analysis reveals how the behaviors of the outgoing generation shape the successors’ ability to lead, and how the new generation, in turn, redefines leadershipleadership, governancegovernance and strategy to sustain long-term growth. By examining both structural and strategic transformations, we uncover the mechanisms that enable family firms to evolve while preserving continuitycontinuity. Finally, we provide actionable guidelines for practitioners, outlining best practices and common pitfalls across the three phases of succession to help family businesses thrive across generations.
