The energy demand has recently increased due to technological advancement and the expanded number of smart cities. This growth may create new challenges for environmental and infrastructure sustainability. Thus, the demand for green and reliable energy sources increases. However, these sources, such as solar and wind, are unpredictable. This chapter examines the role of integration Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) in enhancing the performance and the reliability of renewable energy systems. IoT and AI play an important role in improving grid stability by detecting faults, predicting demand, and optimizing energy generation. Indeed, AI-based systems can provide an accurate and robust prediction of energy demand and power produced. Thus, they can assist in holding the balance between supply and demand. However, IoT devices have the capability of real-time data gathering and monitoring. Nevertheless, the integrating of AI- and IoT-based systems produces new challenges like privacy considerations, data quality, high costs, scalability, power consumption, and regulatory compliance. This renders the process of integrating IoT and AI into renewable energy systems complex. Despite these challenges, the incorporation between AI and IoT can develop the role of renewable energy systems and produce a new path for a more sustainable and strong energy future.

摘要
