If one were to ask anyone on the street what they think about Chicago, Illinois, you will get more than your share of responses related to gun violence. Chicago is without question one of the most significant cities in the country. However, its national reputation, sadly, is one related to gun deaths and misery. Being home to major news outlets plays an important role in shaping its national reputation. Several major gun violence incidents have played a significant role in shaping national reputation. This chapter uplifts one case illustration that involves a mass shooting and a final rites setting, illustrating the challenges that final rites ceremonies present to local law enforcement, the death care sector, and neighborhoods.
