Education on community-centered gun violence interventions, particularly when stressing community involvement, brings a wide range of benefits and challenges. However, when the ultimate beneficiaries of this education play an active role in shaping and participating, an entire community benefits. Enhancing capacity in this arena knows no limits, and that is exciting for the field. This chapter will introduce readers to a range of research undertakings, taking into account the unique circumstances that the death care sector brings to the field. Education represents an investment in the future of a community and society. The gun violence field, however, brings with it unique challenges as addressed in this chapter.
