The article focuses on the argument that effective labor legislation based on the one hand, on the national constitutional and legal framework and, on the other hand, on international legal norms and the EU Acquis is an important prerequisite for the speedy reconstruction and environmental restoration in post-war Ukraine. The article analyses the content of certain Sustainable Development Goals and targets formulated in the outcome document of the UN Summit “Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. The authors conclude that the above Goals and Targets are complex and interdependent. This led them to conclude that one of the important prerequisites for environmental restoration is labor legislation that should ensure sustainable economic growth, full and effective employment and decent work for all. The authors also came to this conclusion after analyzing the content of the UN analytical review on the need to reform labor legislation in Ukraine. Therefore, this article examines the state of labor law reform in the context of the war, as well as the prospects for its early updating. The conclusions emphasize that effective labor legislation can contribute not only to sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all, but also to environmental protection. However, such a relationship is only possible if labor legislation is based on the national constitutional and legal framework and international legal norms and the EU Acquis.
