The problem of providing drinking water to the civilian population during emergencies and hostilities becomes urgent, considering the dehydration of the human body inevitably leads to fatal consequences. Given that the facilities of centralized water supply systems can be destroyed, there is a need to use decentralized water supply systems from renewable sources. First of all, the water from underground horizons should be used if it is available. The territory of left-bank Ukraine is located above the Dnipro-Donetsk artesian basin, where at least three horizons of artesian waters are available, which can serve as a source of water supply. The advantages and disadvantages of groundwater of the Cenomanian-Lower Cretaceous aquifer are shown in the example of the drinking water of Poltava city, and proposals for compensation for these disadvantages are developed.
