Comparing Traditional and Interactive E-Learning: A Nonparametric Analysis of Academic Performance

E-learning platforms allow not only to place learning materials, record scores for completed practical tasks or conduct automatic tests, but also to increase the interactivity of learning. In particular, one of the most commonly used learning management systems in modern universities, LMS Moodle, provides the opportunity to take advantage of built-in elements designed to enhance course interactivity. This paper presents the results of a study that aimed to find out whether students’ learning outcomes differ when e-learning is enhanced with interactive elements. The Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the results of two independent groups. This test does not require normal distribution of the analyzed data. In addition, it is robust to outliers. The normality of data distribution was checked using the Shapiro-Wilk test. The study results indicate that students exposed to interactive learning methods demonstrated high academic performance. These findings support the implementation of interactive elements as an effective pedagogical strategy to enhance learning outcomes.
