This qualitative study examines the ways in which Black women engage in what I call digital Black Barbie doll play within a Facebook group comprised of Black Barbie collectors. Using intersectionality and Black cyberculture as theoretical frameworks, I analyze qualitative survey results completed by members of the Collecting Black Barbie Facebook group. The data analysis revealed that the Facebook group serves two purposes for the Black women surveyed: 1 as a site of understanding, and 2 as a site of Black joy. I end by encouraging scholars of Black girlhood and Black womanhood, as well as scholars of doll and play studies, to continue examining how Black women and girls participate in doll play in digital spaces.
