The late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries can be considered a truly radical age, shaped by themes of plebeian, popular, dissenting, revolutionary, Irish, and republican radicalism, as well as Napoleonic sympathy. These themes provide a structural framework to examine the Foxites’ political evolution, decline, resurgence, and eventual dissolution from 1780 to 1810.
