This chapter, I return to the broader framework developed across the book. I examine how the three liberal modes (separation, composition, and cooperation) relate to contemporary debates about legal pluralism, multiculturalism, and gender equality. I argue in favor of a fourth model: cooperative pluralism, which resists both multiculturalism and thick legal pluralism, and instead proposes an ex ante inter-legality between States and religious authorities.
