Horizontal Product Differentiation
摘要
This chapter is devoted to the study of competition and its effects in a horizontally differentiated market. Let us recall the definition we gave earlier. Two variants of a product are horizontally differentiated when, sold at the same price, some consumers prefer to buy the first over the second, while the opposite is true for other consumers. The first sections of this chapter study price competition in the Hotelling spatial model, as well as its implications for the selection of variants by competitors.
