Soil Petroleum Pollution in South-West of Khuzestan Province, Iran (Case Study)
摘要
A huge petroleum reservoir is located in the southwest of Khuzestan province, Iran. The local oil and gas company facilities, pipelines, and oil wells are in the west of the province towards the Iraq border. Facilities are in close proximity to residential areas, agricultural lands, great wastelands, and deserts. In these areas, petroleum leakage and spills accidentally occur and pollute the ecosystem; the company should be informed of potential risks in order to avoid soil pollution. This chapter aims to review cases of oil pollution in the surrounding environment, discusses oil pollution hazards, and introduces various possible soil remediation methods.
