Pollution, Ecosystem Degradation, Human Vulnerability and Projection
摘要
The Earth and all life are harmonically linked. Ecosystems are shaped by the interrelationship of living and non-living. The Earth has many habitats, which has led to a variety and variability of life through natural selection and evolution. Additionally, biodiversity in an ecosystem directly refers to its strengths and resilience to changes and stressors. Pollution is a type of human-made stress that causes a decrease in biodiversity and ecosystem productivity. Pollution changes life’s playground. Moreover, by affecting ecosystem productivity, it damages or destroys the life of dependent organisms. Humans depend on surrounding ecosystems and biodiversity, any pollution endangers society. This chapter reviews the story of environmental pollution and its relationship to the ecosystem, biodiversity, and humans.
