The solution of the Poisson equation is in general subject to boundary conditions that have to be fulfilled simultaneously. Apart from a discussion of the uniqueness of the solution in this chapter we will present three practical methods for the calculation of \(\Phi (\textbf{r})\) in case of specific boundary conditions, i.e. the mirror method, the inversion method and the separation of variables.
