This chapter examines empirical findings regarding the experiences of applicants and respondents with Family Violence Intervention Orders (FVIOs) following incidents of family violence, focusing on whether these orders effectively stop the violence. It provides a comprehensive understanding of how FVIOs operate within the cultural context of the South Sudanese community and its approaches to family violence. The chapter explores the implementation of FVIOs, assessing their effectiveness and the repercussions faced by applicants and respondents due to these orders. It offers insights into how individuals access these orders, the events that occur during their implementation, such as child protection intervention, and their preferences for an ideal FV intervention process. Detailed narratives from participants illuminate their experiences with the legal system, including interactions with police and court personnel.
