From 1927 to 1929, A. Staus at the State Higher School of Mechanical Engineering in Esslingen, Germany built a test facility with an overshot waterwheel and conducted waterwheel experiments. This overshot waterwheel with rounded sheet metal cells, which is best described in the German literature, will be described in detail and measurement results are compared with calculation methods introduced in the previous chapters of the book. Next, experiments of C. Weidner at the University of Wisconsin, USA are described because here wading was investigated in detail. Furthermore, measurements were carried out on a waterwheel system under normal operating conditions. The waterwheel examined here had folded sheet metal cells, which do not allow optimal jet deflection. In this respect, these investigations complement each other in terms of the performance of waterwheels with well-rounded and folded sheet metal cells.
