The tourism industry is becoming the new generation of the blockchain industry by improving transaction security, reducing fraud, facilitating identity verification, and turning customer loyalty programs into crypto loyalty. The tourism sector is appropriate for blockchain-related tourism, which has enormous intermediary costs, pervasive data security vulnerabilities, and a lack of transparency regarding reward systems, which have historically been hampered. It uses blockchain, distributed ledger technology (DLT), smart contracts, decentralized identity verification (DID), and tokenised loyalty to aid the removal of incorrect or untraced payments and the unconfirmed identity of the client who made the payment. Later, this research explores blockchain’s application in secure travel transactions, fraud prevention, and customer engagement, as well as its actual application in the tourism industry of NFTs based on tourism experiences and decentralized booking platforms. Survey findings, case study analysis, and interviews of experts show that blockchain adoption in tourism has improved its operating cost by up to 25%, resulting in a 78% decrease in fraudulent bookings and a 40% increase in customer interaction in blockchain-based loyalty programs. An overview of the current key adoption barriers (scalability issues, regulatory uncertainties, and consumer ignorance) is provided despite the advantages and near-term regulatory and SCADA technical objectives that the SCADA owners drive. Future research would focus on integrating blockchain with AI and IoT to bring innovative, automated, and trust-based tourism ecosystems. In order to successfully make blockchain shape a more secure, transparent and customer-focused global tourism industry in the long run, it will be necessary to address regulatory and scalability concerns.
