Engaging the Family and Support System in Patient Care
摘要
Chronic illnesses significantly affect not only patients but also their families, disrupting family dynamics and daily routines. Engaging the family and support system in patient care has proven to be beneficial for individuals managing conditions such as rheumatic diseases, which often impose emotional and physical challenges. This chapter explores the importance of involving families in patient care, detailing methods for healthcare providers to foster collaboration and communication that enhances patient outcomes. Highlighting case studies and successful models like the Charla de Lupus (Lupus Chat)® Program, the chapter underscores the value of culturally responsive approaches and tailored support for adolescents and their caregivers. Integrating these strategies can lead to improved patient confidence, adherence to treatment, and overall quality of care.
