The Arabic Language, Technological Progress, and Renaissance: A Khaldunian Reading of the Linguistic and Innovative Development
摘要
The objective of this research is to document the initiative undertaken by Ibrahim Al-Yazji in compiling a contemporary technical linguistic dictionary that can be relied upon by Arabs during their modern renaissance. It underscores the capability of the Arabic language to articulate the requirements of the modern age, including its newly coined technical terminology emerging from the Arab modern renaissance. Additionally, the research examines the impact of Ibn Khaldun on the Arab modern renaissance, particularly regarding writing styles in the 19th and early twentieth centuries, while aiming to elucidate the connection between writing style and civilizational advancement. The study delves into Al-Yazji's viewpoint concerning the interrelation of language, progress, decline, and its ties to society, the state, and civilization, paralleling Ibn Khaldun's application of his theories of human civilization to language and various other sciences.
