Governance in Educational Institutions: Examining the Role of Leadership in Enhancing Academic Performance
摘要
Effective leadership in governance contributes to the improvement of academic performance within the institutions of learning, especially considering the increased complexities and dynamism of the educational landscape. The paper explores the relationship between leadership practices and governance arrangements at 20 educational institutions covering secondary and higher education through a mixed-methods study. The qualitative part of the study utilizes a review of existing literature to form a theoretical base, while the quantitative part is based on data collected from 300 respondents including administrators, teachers, and students. Key indicators include efficiency in decision-making, stakeholder involvement, transparency, resource allocation, and academic success measures (for instance rates of graduation and standardized testing results). Results highlight transparent leadership, collaborative stakeholder engagement, and strategic resource management as the drivers of scholarly attainment. The findings therefore underscore the need for policymakers to realign governance frameworks with stakeholder expectations and also the balance between business and educational expertise. It concludes by providing evidence-based strategies and future research recommendations on how technology can be leveraged for better governance and academic outcomes.
