The objective of the study is to ascertain the influence of information technology on the establishment of competitive advantage. This investigation involved two variables, each assessed through a series of dimensions. The independent variable, information technology, is evaluated across three dimensions: hardware and software, communication networks, and databases. Conversely, the dependent variable, competitive advantage, is measured through three dimensions: cost, quality, and flexibility. The study's population included ten commercial banks selected at random, while the sample comprised managers, department heads, assistant managers, and employees. A questionnaire consisting of 32 items was disseminated to 185 employees, and a comprehensive methodology was employed due to the limited sample size. Out of the distributed questionnaires, 108 were deemed analyzable, resulting in a response rate of 58%. The researchers utilized a descriptive-analytical approach and employed various statistical tests via the SPSS program. The study yielded several significant findings, the most prominent being that the dimensions of information technology have a statistically significant effect on the enhancement of competitive advantage within commercial banks. These dimensions accounted for 72.5% of the competitive advantage observed. Furthermore, the findings revealed that among the independent variable dimensions, the database dimension exhibited the greatest explanatory power in affecting competitive advantage. The research suggests the importance of upholding a holistic information technology strategy that aligns with the strategic objectives of the bank, while also ensuring that investments in IT enhance the competitive advantage.
