Towards Sustainable Urban Freight Transport: Insights from Data Analysis of Receiving and Shipping Behavior in a Technological Development Area in Berlin
摘要
The development of sustainable urban logistics is a pressing challenge in the face of increasing freight transport and environmental impacts. In this context, the research question arises as to how freight transport in urban development areas can be made more sustainable. Data on the receiving and shipping behavior of companies can make an important contribution to the development of sustainable freight transport concepts by providing insights into the actual requirements and patterns of companies. For this purpose, a primary data collection was conducted focusing on the delivery and shipping behavior of companies in Berlin-Adlershof, a technological development area. The data analysis indicates that the receiving and shipping behavior in the area is very heterogeneous, but parcel deliveries dominate. These findings serve as a basis for analyzing potential measures to reduce the local environmental impact of freight transport. The data provide an initial overview and hold the potential for further studies to collect additional significant determinants. This can drive holistic planning and the implementation of environment-friendly measures to increase the efficiency of freight transport in urban areas.
