The term “Sustainability” is a complex word to define. Focusing on the transportation sector as a structural infrastructure, more specifically on pavements, sustainability refers to the impacts on the environment, economy, and society at all stages, including material selection, design, and construction, as well as preservation strategies. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the sustainability of high RAP content asphalt mixes and the testing methodology involved in the determination of the key mechanical properties. Given that pavements are material intensive assets, a large focus in pavement sustainability to date has been on the use of recycled materials in road construction. The present study is part of wider research on the performance and durability of asphalt mixtures incorporating Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP).

摘要
