Today, the role of individuals is limited. True “lone wolves” are rare, perhaps found only among consultants. Even solo startup founders quickly build a team around them. The role of “solo inventors” is largely confined to idea generation (although this is a crucial role!). When a new, promising idea emerges and becomes known, public research centers and private corporations across various countries almost immediately start allocating funds for further development and competition between large teams begins. In any case, nowadays, the improvement of products or solutions begins almost as soon as their first versions appear.
