Rössler Attractor
摘要
Have you tasted a taffy candy? Or have you seen a machine pulling taffies? I haven’t seen a taffy candy, haven’t tasted one, nor have I seen a taffy-pulling machine. In the 1970s, Otto Rössler published a paper describing the machine. His description has since been known as the Rössler system or the Rössler attractor. Attractors are attractive. Lorenz, too, had come up with another system known by his name as the Lorenz attractor. His system tries to explain the chaotic behavior of the climatic events. It is grossly nonlinear, yielding astounding visual displays of chaos.
