The study provides an overview of the diversity of diatoms present from the source to the mouth of the river Spreča (130 km) and recorded in the period of July and October 2021. With the aim of providing comparative results that could be used for further monitoring of the state of the community. The locations were chosen taking into account the immediate presence of potential pollutants (great anthropogenic pressure, industrial plants). Community diversity is shown by Margalef, Shannon-Wiener, Pielou’s evenness index and Simpson’s index. The distribution of epilithon taxa indicated two groups of samples according to similarity. One of them is made up of localities six, seven and eight, which according to all quality parameters indicate the worst condition and the greatest anthropogenic influence.
