This chapter addresses the following questions: Did sanctuary policies have a positive impact on irregular migrants’ access to health services during the Covid-19 pandemic? What impact did differences in local migratory policies towards the undocumented population in the Greater Los Angeles metropolitan area have on irregular migrants? We draw on an extensive analysis of local migratory and health policies, results from the ‘Sanctuary Cities as Emerging Borders’ Project Database, and field work conducted before, during, and after the pandemic to answer these questions. In doing so, we seek to emphasise the perspective of undocumented migrants in order to better understand the role of local sanctuary policies in facilitating living conditions and navigating the invisible boundaries they face in their daily lives.

摘要
