This title is justified in a context in which it seems presumptuous to debate a topic such as the philosophy of war. The idea of the philosophy of war is too general and narrow in its approach. Instead, this study aims to link philosophy and philosophers to war. What war is, how representative thinkers have framed this social reality in their meditation, what wars they have been contemporaries of, and what their attitude was toward the crucial event to which they were either combatants or detached witnesses is the content of the following overview and reflections. Therefore, we prefer to use the terms metaphysics and metaphysics of war. Beyond (meta) the manifestation (physics) of war, the overall understanding (Weltanschauung) also provides an account.
