Motorcycling has traditionally been considered a private means of transportation since its inception. After that, it was repurposed as a ride-sharing service for rural communities with little or no access to public transportation. Ride-sharing services have become more widely available because of the internet’s rapid expansion. Research on how drivers react to safety restraints is a hot topic among transportation experts. Researchers in Dhaka decided to conduct this study since no previous studies examined how motorbike service providers in Dhaka ride their motorcycles using an app or contract. An extensive literature review was conducted before the questionnaire survey was created. The questionnaire survey collected information about riders’ demography, driving errors, driving manners, traffic violations, crash histories, and driving experiences, and a field survey yielded 642 pieces of information. To understand riders’ probability of being involved in a crash by comparing app-based and contract-based riders, the Bayesian Belief Network (BBN) is used. Based on survey findings on driving error, a traffic violation is classed as “Highly,” “Medium,” and “Low,” and driving manner is classed as “Best,” “Good”, and “Poor” on a 5-point Likert-type scale. According to the sensitivity analysis, Age, education level, driving licenses, driving manner, and traffic violations are the most important factors in crash history. Furthermore, it demonstrates that contract-based motorcycle riders ride more safely than app-based ones. Using the findings of this study, policymakers and law enforcement officials can take the necessary steps to increase the safety of motorcycle riders.
