Most global energy production relies on fossil fuels, leading to high CO2 emissions and the side effect of quickly using up what are non-renewable resources. One of the main reasons an individual may want to transition away from fossil fuels is due to beneficial impacts associated with global warming by reducing harmful gas emissions when generating energy. Renewable energy sources use less harmful gases in comparison providing a cleaner and sustainable alternative. During the last few years, demand for clean energy has been increasing and as an alternative or maybe a supplement solar energy has started to be used on a larger scale due to abundant availability. This research analyzes the case of the Gujarat Solar Power Policy to develop solar energy as part of its energy strategy. The policy maintains the preferential nature of power purchase agreements (PPAs) on terms that are suitable for investors which results in long-term stability and assurance. It also gives importance in enhancing grid connectivity to meet the heavy demand from solar while stressing on the growth of solar-related infrastructure including research institutions and solar parks. The Gujarat Solar Power Policy has made Gujarat a pioneer in solar power adoption at scale, through public–private partnership and it now serves as an example for other states to aspire toward making sustainability more than the buzzword, possibly future roadmap in scaling clean energy solutions. The discussion of the research has ended with comparison analysis on Gujarat solar policy with other state policies and where it is different and better. The research also details the comparative study made with Gujarat Solar Power Policy and how it stood apart from the state policies. Thus, this comparative study will also differentiate the success factors for solar policy paving the way for future projects in the country and worldwide.
