Communication for Development?
摘要
Communication for Development (C4D) is a participatory and strategic process that uses communication tools and approaches to promote social change, empower communities and support sustainable development goals. This chapter dissects the debate about development and underdevelopment, communication for development, the issue of policy, as well as the principles, methodologies and practical applications of C4D, emphasizing its role in fostering dialogue, raising awareness and influencing behaviour in areas such as health, education, agriculture, governance and environmental sustainability. Rooted in the ideals of inclusivity and local ownership, C4D encourages bottom-up communication that amplifies the voices of marginalized groups and facilitates community-driven solutions. The chapter also explores the integration of traditional media, inter-personal communication and digital technologies in development programming. Within the theoretical insights, the chapter underscores the importance of culturally sensitive, context-specific communication strategies that enhance participation, accountability and long-term impact. It presented C4D as a vital tool for empowering individuals and strengthening democratic and developmental processes in both local and global contexts.
