Personal Reviews
摘要
Reviews of your performance are ways of providing you with feedback on your activities, expectations, and career advancement, whether the evaluations are routinely recurrent, for promotion and tenure, or ad hoc for cause. Although often stressful, you should consider them beneficial and necessary for your career planning. To optimize the value of your reviews, you should be well prepared by understanding their purpose, the evaluation criteria to be used, and implications of their outcome. Your annual faculty performance review is the responsibility of those to whom you report, usually your division chief, department chair, or their surrogates, and may include others from the dean’s office and hospital leadership. Promotion and tenure reviews are guided by departmental and institutional policies that define the process and criteria to be used. You also may be asked to participate in institutional reviews of clinical, research, or education programs in which you are involved; being a highly engaged and enthusiastic participant will demonstrate your institutional commitment, collegiality, and teamwork, which will benefit your reputation and career advancement.
