This chapter aims to assess how cross-border cooperation, mainly cross-border public services, can support the process of the Just Green Transition targeting the sensible border regions in the Western Balkans. The focus is on the legal frameworks that enable the establishment of cross-border public services that support the transition to low-carbon and climate-resilient activities, jobs in the green economy, public and sustainable transport, renewable energy sources, and infrastructure, and digital connectivity. The cross-border dimension of the Just Green Transition in the Western Balkans is explored through the cross-border areas of the Republic of Serbia, examining the existing legal frameworks for local and regional authorities to implement Just Green Transition in the IPA-IPA and INTERREG-IPA cross-border areas. Also, the article discusses the opportunities set up by existing legal frameworks that can be used to transition towards a climate-neutral economy fairly, leaving no one behind.
