In the investigation by the Manhattan D.A. of President Trump’s financial dealings, subpoenas were issued calling for Trump’s federal income tax returns. Trump resisted on the grounds that he was immune from prosecution and compulsory judicial process. This chapter analyses the decisions of the district and circuit courts, and of the Supreme Court, all of which rejected Trump’s immunity claims.
