Online learning approach provides a remote platform for educators to share the knowledge with participants remotely. It has various advantages over traditional education system, however, it cannot ensure the quality of online education and the contents being delivered thus may degrade the overall academic performance of the participants, if the course contents are irrelevant w.r.t. participant’s interest/skills etc. these issues have been investigated by various researchers and artificial intelligence (AI) machine learning (ML) algorithms can be used to resolve these constraints. There are different solutions have been suggested to improve the online learning platform along with the academic performance. In this paper, numerous AI based methods will be explored those can be implemented in real-time scenario to achieve the desired goal as well as it will also provide the comparison of different schemes developed by researchers to analyze the different factors i.e. student’s behavior, their performance and risk factors associated with online learning strategies.
