This chapter unfolds the plot of securitization stories in each country. It explores how Islam, security, and identity are narratively constructed in Germany, Britain, and France. It reveals “narrative civil wars” unique to each context. In Germany, the debate centers around Verfassungspatriotismus versus Leitkultur. In Britain, the tension lies between muscular liberalism and multiculturalism, while in France, the focus is on competing interpretations of laïcité. The chapter concludes that these narratives reflect broader struggles over political liberalism, with some advocating for common values and others for common rules in multicultural societies.
