Bibliometric Analysis Using Bibliometrix and VOSviewer Applications in Biomedical Engineering
摘要
This study aimed to investigate how and how frequently the bibliometric analysis applications (app) Bibliometrix and VOSviewer are applied in biomedical engineering, focusing on the cardiovascular field. Cardiovascular engineering-related keywords were selected and aggregated to the app names to underpin a qualitative analysis of scholarly texts extracted from the Scopus, Web of Science, and PubMed databases that employed integrative literature review approaches. The study’s findings confirm the lack of adoption of the bibliometric analysis offered by these free apps to develop academic research on biomedical engineering in the last five years while highlighting the significant increase in the use of these apps for bibliometric analysis in all areas. The study also identified the resulting differences between the apps. Considering the outcomes of this investigation, in addition to other emerging trends that warrant further exploration, it is recommended that additional research be conducted with other bibliometric analysis apps that integrate literature review and create visual diagrams and interrelationship networks that can reveal other criteria not observed in this article as differential criteria for researchers.
