Translating scientific knowledge into practical strategies for Digital Twin development remains a significant challenge. This is particularly important when the concept of Digital Twins is transferred to domains that are not yet familiar with the concept (such as the health sector). This paper presents two tools designed to bridge this gap. First, a Lean Digital Twin Canvas supports the conceptualization and early planning of Digital Twin solutions, helping teams define objectives, scope, and key components of the Digital Twin. Second, a Morphological Box provides a structured approach to determining the fundamental system architecture, ensuring more coherent and adaptable technical foundations. Both methods were evaluated through a questionnaire addressed to students and expert practitioners, who assessed their perceived usefulness. The findings suggest that these practical tools, inspired by established scientific frameworks, are perceived as useful especially for novices in Digital Twin development. The results also indicate that users find development support tools more useful in early development phases (concept design) than in late phases (prototype design).
