The pathology caused by the Sars-CoV-2, COVID-19, represents one of the most significant global health crisis and is considered one of the greatest public health challenges of all time. The disease showed a high transmissibility, broad dissemination and important lethality. The lack of scientific knowledge about COVID-19 resulted in difficulties in establishing strategies to combat the pandemic. The use of facial masks was one of the actions to prevent COVID-19 dissemination recommended by World Health Organization (WHO), converging with National Health Agencies of different countries, including the Brazilian agency, Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency). The facial masks have been used as a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to prevent various diseases, mainly respiratory ones. However, the expanded use for the entire population during all the outside activities, and the shortage of these, resulted in prolonged use of the same mask by individuals. At some circumstances it was necessary to reuse facial masks, and not everyone had access do masks of certified quality and suitable materials. The indiscriminate use of facial masks can lead to some adverse skin reactions, that may be related to a lack of knowledge about prolonged and irregular use of the mask. The increased prevalence of skin conditions due to use is evident in dermatological practice. The objective of this project is to collect data with the aim of identifying possible risk factors, adverse reactions and symptoms due to the use of facial masks, in addition to proposing measures to prevent the occurrence of illnesses.
