Metagenomic Analysis of the Sponges of the Great Amazon Reef Applied to Public Health

The metagenomic analyses of five marine sponges of Great Amazon Reef System (GARS) related antibiotics genes resistance (ARGs) (n=1.420) and biosynthetic genes of secondary metabolites (BGCs) (n=7) with antibiotic activity and anti-cancer activity. Were found indenficaded by Prodigal ARGs aminoglycoside (add), Tetracycline (tet), fluoroquinolone (fca), macrolide (erm), beta-lactams (bla), sulfonamide (sul) and glycopeptide (van), phenicol (flo), colistin (mcr) methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus – MRSA (mecA), trimetoprim (dfr) and multidrug genes (mdr). The secondary metabolites with anti-cancer activity like terpenes and alkalides, and BGCs Non-ribosomal Peptide synthetase (NRPS), polyketide (PKS) and ribosomally synthesised and-liketranslationally modified peptide product (RiPP) were found in the analysis performed by AntiSMASH. The presence of resistance genes to various classes of antibiotics resistance genes and biosynthetic genes of secondary metabolites were found in the samples, indicating that these sponges produce substances with broad-spectrum antibiotic activity and anti-cancer activity. In conclusion, bioinformatics tools are fundamental to DNA analysis. This strategy is effective for discovering new drugs.
