The Economics of Loans and Grants and How They Contribute to the Economics of Community
摘要
This chapter mentions the economics behind accessing a loan or grant and how best they speak of a community having access to these services and the project funding process. The chapter also takes readers to the various approaches by various international agencies and banks such as the International Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, European Union, USAID, etc. The section also speaks of the role of the community as persons within the community have to take on a certain level of responsibility and showcase the impact that they would have if they were given a grant. This can be achieved through a cost-sharing approach. It also speaks of the community having to take on an environmental and social management plan by assessing the environmental and social impacts in the community; there is also the need to monitor and evaluate how the money is utilized and to examine how the capacity is developed through the use of either loan or grants. Building sustainability is also keen within the communities; this was shared at both end of the spectrum from recipients and grantees. Areas of institutional strengthening were also shared and how communities could further leverage larger projects.
