Influence of Warm Forming on Characteristics of Cu10wt%Sn Cast Alloy
摘要
Tin bronze alloy, Cu10wt%Sn, was prepared by stir casting method. The influence of warm forming process on the properties of the cast alloy was investigated. The investigation includes the hardness, the microstructure, the porosity, and the grain size of the alloy. Specimens of the cast alloy sample was subjected to three forming (squeezing) pressure of 200, 300, and 400 MPa at 250 ℃. The investigation revealed that the warm forming of the specimen does not cause any phase transformation in the alloy. The specimen before and after the treatment included the intermetallic/phase- ε(Cu3Sn). The warm forming reduced the porosity of the alloy specimen by 171% and the average grain size by 5.5%, and increased the hardness by 132%.
