Enhancing the Quality of Technical and Economic Indicators of Thermal Power Plants by Improving the Combustion of Low-Grade Fuels

The article deals with the issues of improving the technical and economic performance of a thermal power plant by increasing the efficiency of fuel combustion. To solve this problem, it is proposed to use low-cost technologies based on the use of activator additives, which are dosed into the furnace and improve the conditions of the furnace process. The studies carried out when introducing the tested dosage (~5 ml/t of coal) of the anacloride ‘RA-GEN F’ into the boiler show a positive effect on the parameters of the combustion process for all the performed modes of operation and contributes to the intensification of the combustion process in the furnace with an increase in the temperature level. The activator has improved the fuel combustion, and the combustible content in the combustion mixture is reduced by 7.16 ÷ 10.76%, while reducing heat losses from mechanical underburning by 2.35 ÷ 3.64% and with flue gases by 0.33–1.39%, which together led to an increase in boiler efficiency by 2.74 ÷ 4.33%, as one of the most important technical and economic indicators, in addition, the mass concentration of carbon monoxide in the flue gases decreases by 14.6 ÷ 45.2 mg/m3, which reduces its mass emission into the atmosphere with a slight increase in oxide emissions. It is advisable to introduce anaclaride into the boiler when burning the fuel grades tested in the experiments over the entire operating load range, as it significantly improves fuel combustion and liquid slag yield.
