Poppies. Beautiful But Toxic: and Healthy?
摘要
The poppy became the official state flower of California in 1903. While in 2016, it was nominated as Poisonous Plant of the Year: Eschscholzia californica, the “California poppy.” This plant, a member of the poppy family, originated in California and can now be found in Australia and South Africa. In the nineteenth century, it became popular in Europe as a decorative plant. Its German nickname, Schlafmützchen, translates to “small sleep cap” or “night cap,” a gentler designation that refers to the flower’s appearance, and suggests one of its medical effects.
