Method of Naming of Multi-volume Files Based on BLAKE2 Cryptographic Hash Function

The analysis of representation of files in cloud storages is performed. The cryptographic hash functions involved in the process of calculation of checksum of files are analysed and compared by few criteria considering the possibility of the use for naming and identification of multi-volume files. The possibility to use of cryptographically strong hash functions for naming of files is discussed. Analysis of the support of the file systems in different operating systems (OS) for ensuring of higher compatibility of file naming is performed. Based on the analysis to provide maximum support for most existing operating systems it is proposed to use exFAT, FAT32, and UDF file system. The file identification by combination of CRC32 and size of file is proposed. The set of requirements for naming of files considering file systems are formulated. The technique of naming of multi-volume files is proposed. Application of proposed method of naming with example based on different archives is provided. The use of proposed method allows to save up to 19% of metadata information size.
