It is possible, but uncommon, to have a “stroke of the inner ear,” and this usually causes sudden hearing loss and disequilibrium, though often there are other symptoms as well if the stroke additionally involves areas of the brainstem and/or cerebellum. Management of inner ear strokes is similar to management of strokes in general.
