Video head impulse testing (vHIT) assesses the high-frequency vestibular function predominantly of one of each pair of coplanar semicircular canals. Its outcome measures include gain and the presence/absence of overt and covert compensatory saccades. Its evaluation of the horizontal semicircular canals is more reliable than that of the vertical semicircular canals.
