Anterior (sometimes called superior) semicircular canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the least common form of BPPV. Anterior canal BPPV of a given side can be diagnosed when the Dix–Hallpike maneuver on the opposite side elicits nystagmus that is down beat, with a torsional component (and sometimes a horizontal component) beating away from the affected ear (and toward the undermost ear). Treatments include the reverse Epley maneuver, Semont maneuver, Casani maneuver, Kim maneuver, and Yacovino maneuver.
