Sarcoidosis is an immune disease that can affect different organ systems (e.g., lungs, skin, liver), and is usually managed by a doctor specializing in the affected organ system (such as a pulmonologist, dermatologist). When sarcoid affects the brain, spinal cord, or nerves, it is called neurosarcoidosis. Some patients with neurosarcoidosis have problems with hearing and balance, and in such cases, it is medically reasonable to screen for other more common causes of such symptoms.
