In superior oblique myokymia (SOM), one of the muscles that moves the eyeball “twitches,” which can cause the symptom of monocular oscillopsia. Often this occurs without any discernible underlying cause, and it can remit spontaneously. In some patients, the symptoms abate with medication. Rarely, surgical treatment may be warranted.
